It's been a while since the last update. Been involved in moving
house. Now have a garage to use as my workshop. Hooray!
As can be seen from the first photo, the frame has been painted,
The rear pony truck, the brake mechanism and brake blocks
attached. The reversing lever and reach rod has also been fitted
at this stage as well.
What can't be seen is the suspension system on the main wheels.
This is provided by two lengths of spring steel attached to the
frame spacer in between the drivers. Springs are then attached
to these pieces of steel and the suspension points on the frame.
I had a problem with the reversing lever. To my mind it's reversed.
I feel that the clasp should be grabbed with the fingers rather than
the palm of the hand so I decided that it should be changed.
This involved the extraction of the loctited pin where the reach rod
is attched to the lever and with the leaver reversed, the pin
re-attached. Since then I've found numerous locos with the lever
both way around. Looks like it's a personal thing :)
