Now was the time to set the valve timing. It would appear that
even with instructions valve timing is a black art which
contains 1 quarter knowledge and 3 quarters luck. Or is that
just me. I set the valve events up and then got and air
compressor to test the chassis on air. I was testing the cut offs
and one of the grub screws slipped which threw the timing out,
so off with the covers (and I had to cut one of the nuts off
the stud as it had locked on) and set the timing again. For
some reason, the timing was a lot better than it was before.
Happy days. Managed to get the video camera out and get footage
of the first movement. A very exciting time I must say. But also
a sad one as I haveto wait for the rest to be ready before I can
continue.
Well, this story hasn't finished yet either, I was running on the
air again and threw the valve events again ... so I have to take
the covers off and hope to set the timing as good as it was again.
I'm wondering if loctiting the bushes in place wouldn't be a bad
idea ???
